Visiting Braies Lake

One with the lake

Our visit to Braies Lake was a highlight of our stay at Leitlhof. The drive from the hotel was smooth and scenic, and travelling in the off-season made it especially convenient parking near the lake was easy to find, particularly in the morning. I highly recommend arriving early to secure a good spot and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before the crowds arrive and the parking gets full.

Braies Lake offers plenty to explore, from leisurely walks along the shoreline to renting a rowboat and gliding across its crystal-clear waters. We had a fantastic time on the lake, capturing stunning photos of the dramatic mountain backdrop. In true alpine fashion, the weather changed in an instant one moment it was warm and sunny, and within five minutes, the temperature dropped and rain began to pour. We quickly rowed back to shore, only for the rain to stop as soon as we arrived, with the sun returning and the heat intensifying. It was a reminder to always have dry clothes at hand and be prepared for any weather these unpredictable moments made our adventure even more memorable.

After our time on the lake, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Emma’s Bistro. Despite the restaurant being very busy, the food and service were outstanding. Our day at Braies Lake was filled with excitement, beauty, and a touch of unpredictability an experience that truly enriched our Dolomites journey.
