Queen Elizabeth II – A True Fashion Icon

8th of September, the whole world was shook! Her Majesty the Queen has passed away.

As we mourn today we take our time to think about her and appreciate everything she has done for the world we live in today.

For many years now, it has been pretty simple to dress up as the Queen of the United Kingdom, either for Halloween or the occasional dress up party. A solid, brightly coloured boxy skirt suit with a brooch on the left shoulder, a matching hat (or, for extra credit, an umbrella), white gloves, and a purse swinging gracefully on one wrist are all that are required, according to conventional thinking. perhaps a white wig as well.

However, her fashion sense and what she represented was so much more than that. The queen’s attire was regularly associated with deeper meanings; it was thought to express love or support for other nations and groups, or even to impose authority when required. Elizabeth also contributed to setting a standard for women’s attire that was appropriate for politics because her reign began in 1952, a period before women were frequently seen at the highest echelons of administration in the Western world.

This means that she is one of the first fashion trend starters who we still follow immensely today. HOW INCREDIBLE IS THAT?

The Royal family has always impressed with their impeccable choices of outfits, ladies such as Kate Middleton, her sister Pippa Middleton, Princess Beatrice, and of course Princess Diana have been a fashion inspiration to the masses ever since they have landed in the spotlight. However, the biggest fashion icon of all has always been Queen Elizabeth II.

With her elegant and always well matched style, she has always appreciated and admired fashion. She was aware of its influence. She enlisted the help of experienced advisors, including her mother’s favourite designer Norman Hartnell, Savile Row tailor Hardie Amies, and her dresser Angela Kelly, the brains behind her wildly successful monochrome senior look of the previous 30 years.

And as a tribute to Her Majesty, one of the most remarkable women in history and a true pioneer for fashion here’s a gallery of my favourite pictures of HM Queen Elizabeth II:
