What you get
Everything in Care, and the four things it adds
Care keeps a store steady. This is for the months where you have a list, and it exists because an hour a month frustrates anyone who is actually building.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Everything in Care | Staging-tested updates, daily off-site backups, security and uptime monitoring, checkout tested after every update run, written monthly report. |
| Development time | 3 hours a month for changes, features and fixes. Does not roll over. |
| Performance work | Core Web Vitals and load speed worked on deliberately rather than only monitored. |
| Conversion review | Quarterly. We go through the store as a customer and report what is costing you orders. |
| Queue position | Priority over Care plan work when both are waiting. |
| Response | Within one business day, business hours. There is no overnight line and we do not pretend there is. |
| Larger projects | Anything beyond the monthly hours is quoted separately before it starts. |
| Hosting | Not included. You keep your own hosting account and we work within it. |
| Onboarding | A Store Audit is required first, credited against your first quarter. |
| Cancellation | 2 months notice. Everything stays yours and nothing is held back. |
Who this is for
Three signs you have outgrown a care plan
Most stores should be on Care. This one earns its price in specific circumstances, and it is worth checking whether they are yours.
- 01You have a list
There are five things you want done to the store and there have been for months. That is the clearest signal: an hour a month will not clear it, and quoting each item separately is more admin than the work.
- 02Speed is costing you
The store is slow enough that you can feel it, and every month it is not fixed is a month of lost conversion. Performance work is included here rather than quoted each time.
- 03You are trading seriously
Enough revenue is running through the checkout that a quarterly look at where it leaks pays for the plan several times over. Below that, the review is interesting rather than valuable.
If none of these are true, buy Care and keep the difference. You can move up whenever the list appears.
Included
What the extra buys
- 3 hours of real developmentEnough to actually finish things: a new feature, a template change, a checkout tweak, an integration. Not just maintenance with a bigger invoice.
- Performance treated as work, not a metricCore Web Vitals improved deliberately, with the causes fixed rather than reported. The stack is the same one that gets our own stores into the nineties.
- A quarterly conversion reviewWe go through your store as a customer, on mobile and desktop, and write up what is costing you orders. Most owners stop seeing their own checkout after a year.
- Priority when it mattersWhen two stores are waiting, yours goes first. Worth having in the weeks when something needs to happen quickly.
- Everything in Care underneathStaging-tested updates, tested backups, monitoring, checkout testing and a written report every month.
- One relationship, not a queue of quotesSmall work stops needing an estimate every time, which in practice is why more of it actually gets done.
The two boundaries
What this plan is and is not
Two things decide whether a monthly fee stays honest, so they are stated in full rather than discovered in month three.
The development time
3 hours a month, used however you like. It does not roll over, and anything larger is quoted before it starts rather than quietly eating the allowance.
- 3 hours monthly, your priorities
- Larger projects quoted separately, in advance
- Not unlimited development
- Unused hours do not carry over
The response commitment
Priority means you go first in the queue. It does not mean a different set of hours, and the honest statement is the same on both plans.
- one business day, business hours
- Priority over Care plan work
- Backups, alerting and rollback cover the night
- Not a twenty four hour line
How it works
Audit, onboard, then a rhythm
- AuditThe Store Audit first, always. Its fix list usually becomes your first month of development hours.
- OnboardStaging, backups and monitoring set up, and we agree what the first month of hours goes on.
- Monthly rhythmUpdates and monitoring as standard, plus 3 hours on whatever is top of your list.
- Quarterly reviewA proper look at how the store converts, written up with what to change and in what order.
Every price in this range is published. Nothing is quoted privately that is sold publicly to someone else.

Questions
Before you join
The practical test is whether you have a list of things you want done to the store. If you do, 1 hour a month will frustrate you and quoting each item separately is more admin than the work. If the store is steady and you mainly want it safe and watched, Care is the right plan and you should keep the difference.
Any development or change work you ask for: features, template changes, checkout adjustments, integrations, content restructuring. The routine care work does not count against it, so updates, backups, monitoring and the checkout testing are all on top rather than eating into your time.
No, and it is deliberate. Hours saved for six months become a development project with a deadline attached, which is a different kind of commitment and is quoted separately. If you know a larger piece of work is coming, tell us and we will price it properly rather than pretending the retainer absorbs it.
We go through your store as a customer would, on mobile and desktop, and write up what is costing you orders: the checkout, the product pages, the search, the things that are confusing when you are not the person who built them. It is the same discipline as the audit, repeated on a store we now know well.
When two pieces of work are waiting, yours goes first. It does not mean a different response commitment: that is one business day on both plans, in business hours, and we say so plainly rather than implying a night shift exists.
The same honest answer as on Care. You get a human response within one business day, in business hours. What covers the night is daily off-site backups with tested restores, continuous uptime alerting and a documented rollback path, so recovery does not depend on anyone being awake.
Because we are not taking responsibility for a store we have never examined, and you should not pay us to discover it slowly. On this plan the audit does double duty: its prioritised fix list usually becomes your first month of development hours, so the work starts on day one rather than after a month of orientation.
We cap total managed stores at 10 across both plans and publish the number, so it is worth asking early. If we are full we will say so rather than taking you on and doing it badly. Ask through the contact page before buying the audit if a place matters to you.
Why it works
Growth in practice
Why a retainer beats quoting every small job
The reason most store improvements never happen is not cost, it is friction. Every small change needs describing, quoting, approving and scheduling, and by the third round of emails the change is no longer worth the effort of asking for. A monthly allowance removes that entirely: you say what you want, it gets done, and the things that were on your list for a year finally leave it.
Why performance is included rather than sold as a project
Speed is not a one off. A store that was fast at launch drifts as products, plugins and images accumulate, and a performance project fixes a moment rather than a trajectory. Doing it continuously as part of the plan means the drift never compounds into the kind of problem that needs its own budget line.
What the quarterly review is really for
Everybody stops seeing their own store. After a year of looking at the same checkout you cannot tell which parts are confusing, because you know what every button does. Someone going through it deliberately, four times a year, with fresh attention and a written report, catches the things that are invisible from the inside. That is usually where the return on this plan actually comes from.
Not sure which plan fits? Tell us what is on your list and we will say plainly which one to buy, including when it is the cheaper one.
Kept safe, and actually moved forward
Every plan starts with an audit, and its fix list becomes your first month of work.
